Welcome to Oak Class!
4th June 2018
We hope you have had an amazing half term and enjoyed the sunshine!
Peter Ashley Centre
Year 5 had an amazing time on their 2 day residential. All the adults who went with the children were very proud of what the children achieved during the two days. The children got to experience new activities and showed real resilience as for some of them it was the first time away from home.
The talent show was a real highlight for the teachers and was an evening we will never forget!
'I really liked the talent show because Kendra wrote me a song as I really wanted to sing!' - Liarna
' My favourite activity was archery because I got a bulls eye the first time I had a shot' - Tierney
'I enjoyed the rock climbing as I was good at it' - Ronnie
A massive thank you to all of the parents who attended our Parent and Pupil Progress Meetings!
It was great to sit down as a team and discuss each child's progress and next steps. Miss West and Mrs Allen were very proud of how reflective all the children were and look forward to working with the children on their targets.
In Year 5, we have started to look at 'The Secret Garden'. We have been looking at unpicking what the term 'classic fiction' means and investigating who Frances Hodgson Burnett is. We are going to be writing a biography this week about her!
Oak have been fantastic during their swimming lessons. We have all made massive progress and Miss West and Mrs Allen are so proud!
During our PDL lessons, we have been looking at our community. We were really lucky that our local PCSO came to visit us. Sharon spoke to us all about her role as a PCSO and how she has many different responsibilities, such as giving out 'Anti-Social Behaviour Orders' and keeping our streets safe by taking drugs and alcohol off of people.
We hope you all had a wonderful couple of days in the snow. We are back in today and have our well-being day!
Reminder - Swimming starts this week for our class!
We would like to welcome everybody back after half term. We hope you have had a lovely, relaxing break and are all ready get back into your learning bubbles!
Year 5 are going to be starting their swimming lessons on Tuesday 6th March. Keep an eye out for your letter to find all the details you need to know!
Our Solar System!
Year 5 have created a solar system in our hidden cupboard! We have used what we have learnt to showcase our new learning!
Miss West and Mrs Allen have been very proud of how hard we are trying to make sure we earn all of our leaves. Our tree is flourishing and really full already!
At the back of our classroom, we are creating our own solar system to help us with our understanding! Keep an eye out for a picture of our creation!
As a school, we have been focusing on internet safety. We took part in 'Safer Internet Day 2018' which has helped us to reflect on our own use of the internet. Lots of Oak class have made sure their security settings are right and are trying to talk to their parents more about their online usage.
Homework Reminder - All homework is handed out on a Wednesday and is due in Monday.
