Young Carers

Every day across the UK thousands of young people help to look after someone in their family, or a friend, who is ill, disabled or misuses drugs or alcohol. Recent research shows that one in five secondary school children may be a young carer.

At Bidbury, our ELSA Miss Clarke looks after our young carers. They meet regularly (currently in their year group bubbles) to discuss how they are feeling, how we can help to reduce pressures on them and to allow them some relaxation time and time to socialise with other children who are caring.

If you feel your child is a young carer or is having their life impacted in some way by mental health, disabilities or alcohol and substance abuse please contact the office by phone or email so that we can contact you to discuss how we can support your child.
