Access to information

All schools have a duty to ensure that their publication scheme, the guide to information and the schedule of fees are all available on their website and paper copies are available from their school office.

Publication Scheme

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, schools are required to hold a Publication Scheme that is readily available to the public and details the school's commitment to proactively publish information. Schools must adopt the ICO’s model Publication Scheme in full and without modification, with the exception of adding information where directed to do so within the document itself.

Guide to information

Our school has used the ICO template Guide to Information that has been produced specifically for use by smaller schools. The template lists the information the ICO thinks schools are likely to hold and should make available within each class of information. When completed this guide will provide a list of all the information our school will routinely make available, explain how it can be accessed and whether or not a charge will be made for it.

Fees and charging

In line with the ICO guidance, information available through our publication scheme is readily available at a low or at no cost to the public.

Schools can charge for activities such as printing, photocopying and postage as well as information that they are legally authorised to charge for.  Any charges are kept to a minimum.  Schools must inform anyone requesting information of any charge before it is provided and may ask for payment before providing the information.

How do I apply for information not in the publication scheme?

For any information not in our publication scheme, you can make a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.  There are some types of information that we won’t be able to give you for legal reasons, for example, because it would give you personal information about someone else.

FOI requests must be submitted in writing and include your name and a postal or email address so we can contact you with our response.  Try to be as specific as you can about the information you want.  The easiest way to submit an FOI request is to complete and email the form below to our school office.  We must reply to your request within 20 working days.
