Uniform

  • School uniform
  • Plain red sweatshirt, jumper, cardigan or fleece.
  • White or red polo shirt.
  • Black or dark grey school trousers, shorts, skirt or pinafore dress. 
  • In the summer term, red/white gingham check dresses.
  • Plain black, white or grey socks.
  • Plain black, white, grey or red tights.
  • Black shoes, plain black flat ankle boots or plain black trainers (with black soles and no coloured logos or laces).
  • Plain, black sandals may be worn in summer but these must have closed toes, a back and a solid sole.
 
On the days that the children have PE, they should wear their PE uniform: 
  • Plain black shorts or skort (no logos)
  • A plain white t-shirt or a plain t-shirt in their house colour (no logos)
  • Plain black, grey, white or red socks 
  • Plain, black trainers or plimsolls (with black soles and no coloured logos or laces)
  • In winter, children may wear plain black tracksuits/sweatshirts/leggings/jogging bottoms (no logos).
 
Watches and Jewellery

  • Children can wear an analogue or digital watch. Although we encourage children to wear watches in school to help them to learn to tell the time, children are not allowed to wear ‘smart’ watches, or any watch that has the same functionality as a mobile phone.
  • Children are allowed to wear one pair of small, plain, stud earrings.
  • Earrings should be removed or taped over for PE lessons. 
  • No other jewellery is allowed (such as necklaces or friendship bands).
 
Hair
  • Long hair should be tied back. 
  • Small, plain hair bands, scrunchies, clips, ribbons, bobbles or beads may be worn in the school colours of red, black or white.  No large hair accessories. 
  • ·    Children's hair should not be dyed, permed or highlighted.
  • ·    No hair extensions or braids.
  • No lines, shapes or carvings shaved into the hair. 
  • Shaved or partly shaved hair must be at least grade 2 in length.
  • The way our hair is worn may be culturally significant. All hair in its natural form, or worn in a culturally traditional way, is appropriate at Bidbury. This includes natural Afro hairstyles (including cornrows, locs, afros, twists, braids and bantu knots). Bobbles, bands or beads may be worn in the school colours of red, black or white.
  • For medical reasons, children may choose or need to wear wigs or hair coverings.
 
General
  • No make-up, nail varnish or false nails.
  • Please ensure that all uniform and coats are clearly marked with your child’s name as this makes it much easier to return lost items.
  • Please note that children who are not wearing correct school or PE uniform will be lent spare items.  We will contact you and expect the child to be in correct uniform the following day.

 

Uniform assistance

  • The school may be able to support families that are currently eligible for Free School Meals in meeting the costs of school uniforms or by providing good quality second hand uniform. Parents/carers should contact our Home School Link Worker for advice.
  • Parents/carers are invited to donate their child’s uniform when they no longer need it. 
  • Pre-loved school uniform is available from our online school uniform shop, Uniformerly.
